Well, that was like looking for a needle in a haystack, but I found it.

I downgraded to 15 and the damn thing upgraded back to 16 before I could turn off the automatic updates, so I had to do it a second time. Anyhow, I got it to where it now asks if I want to upgrade. And, downgrading solved not only the plug-in problem, but another problem that was had been bugging me for a while.

Thanks...

I'm still using version 12 of Firefox, because it's the last version that is compatible with Google Toolbar.
But I also use Chrome, mainly for youtube, so I can use both my google accounts at the same time.
One in Chrome for youtube, and one in Firefox for email.

I use www.filehippo.com for the most popular shareware/freeware and they have most if not all previous versions of the software listed on their site.
When I can't find something there, I usually go to www.majorgeeks.com.
Both are great sites.

I am using Chrome 90% of the time now. Firefox seems to slow my mac down hour by hour for as long as I have it open

Chrome is good if all you do is browse. Some of us need much more functionality to do ID work etc., hence Connor's comment...

That slow thing is mac not FF... Same deal, you try to do intricate things on a mac, it can't find it's ass with both hands...

Chrome and mac go together perfectly, just like crayons and paper...

I started using Firefox when I got my iMac about a year ago. Some of the long time users may have a different opinion, but what I've found is that Mozilla doesn't do that great a job in checking the compatibility of add-ons and plug-ins from one version to another. I had a real issue a few months ago after a Firefox upgrade (14 to 15 maybe?), but when I used Safari, the problem went away. I went in and disabled my add-ons and plug-ins one by one until I found the two that were causing the issue. I lost my weather and stock quote streaming add-ons, but at least the browser works now.

I run the Mac OS on my main screen and Windows XP SP3 on my second monitor. Quite often I'll be running memory and processor intensive applications like Telecharts, FeatureCAM or AutoCAD on the Windows side, while running a brokerage app in the browser (Firefox or Safari) on the Mac side. I typically experience no issues whatsoever. But if I do experience an issue while using one browser, and the issue disappears if I switch to some other browser, that tells me that the browser is the issue, not my computer or either operating system. I love this computer. Other than the Mac Plus that I bought many, many moons ago, this is the best computer that I've ever owned. And by running Parallels, I can do anything and run anything on it. Which Mac do you have? The iMac or a MacBook?

I like Firefox very much. But yes, it is kind of wonky at times... usually after an "upgrade" when you have lots of older plug-ins and add-ons.

Opera is not much better. I have yet to find a browser that doesn't have problems in one way or another.
I do need to check my plug-ins/add-ons and see if I have old ones.

Chrome for me as well. It's so much easier on the computer, resources wise.

You have to remember that the vast majority of add-on's for FF are not made by FF. Have you ever taken a look at how many different add-on's are on their site? It's huge!

As for compatibility, this was a huge problem back when they were only releasing an update every year or so. Now, I have not had a problem until v16 and only one of my add-on's had an issue.

Yeah, I know what you mean. In addition to compatibility, I'm not sure how safe some of the add-ons are. Some appeared to be leaking data of some sort, but I had no real way to test them. I try to be careful and I really do like Firefox. But I'm pretty keen on my own health, as well as that of my computer. This is the biggest objection I have to the Android OS and why I'll probably never own an Android device. I guess everything computer related is capable of spying on us these days. But some OS's seem worse than others... especially if you're installing apps and add-ons from unvetted sources.

Just upgraded to FF 17. It's the best possible browser with balance between security and functionality. From my experience with FF for many years, if you don't add too many extensions and keep them updated, you'll get a good and safe browsing experience.. especially if you browse porn sites which many are known to be aggressive with ads, popups and other annoying issues (freeones is exception). There's also a Mozilla page for checking plugins https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

I think you mean 16. Version 17 hasn't been released yet, unless you're referring to a beta version.

Oh.. right. It's beta. Thanks. It's great with my extensive browsing experience. Naturally, for extra security, one needs anti virus, anti spyware-adware, firewall etc. The problem is with the choice of FF extensions that can make it better or worse. There are thousands for any purpose.

Here is the error and chrome is doing it too , the webmasters need to look at this I reformated my computer too, IE works Firefox dont neather does the new Avant browser with chrome and firefox plugins.
